Word won't open any documents - Microsoft Community.
I have been running Windows 10 for some time with no problems using Microsoft Word Suddenly today Word will not open. If I try to open the application directly I get the following message paraphrased : Word did not start correctly, start in safe mode? I've tried selecting both yes to start in safe mode and no to start regularly. Neither option has been successful. If I try to open a document from file explorer I get the "allow this program to make changes" dialog box and then a message that says "There was a problem sending the command to the program.
I have tried searching this and several forums and have had no luck with any of the suggestions. Even uninstalling and reinstalling Office was not successful. Excel works fine haven't tried any of the other Office suite applications other than Excel and Word. Is there perhaps a recent update that has created this situation that can be uninstalled?
I know that has been a past problem with Microsoft updates I got really good at uninstalling specific updates when using Vista. This thread is locked.

Also already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit. Upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 about 6 weeks ago. Office transferred OK. Word working fine for a while. Had to purchase a new printer Canon ip at the time of upgrade as no Win 10 compatible drivers were available for my old printer.
Printer Driver showing as at version 2. Your advice above is to remove printer drivers - which I do and every time MS Word springs back into life have been round this loop 3 times now.

I am having this same problem as well. In reply to MJC 's post on September 1, EXE file in a folder under Program Files and then on Properties and then go to the Compatibility tab and uncheck all of the boxes?
